Description
One of my favorite photos I ever taken, this print features the Cachimbo Amarillo — a tropical tree known botanically as Cariniana Domestica, native to regions of Venezuela, Brazil, Colombia, and Peru. Though commonly found in the Amazon rainforest, this family I photographed in Oahu, where its yellow trim stood out against the surrounding greenery like sunlight woven into petals.
Viewed as a backdrop, the tree becomes a canvas of color — bright golden blooms filling the frame edge to edge, turning the image into a field of tropical warmth. There’s no horizon to break the scene, no landscape pulling focus away. Just pure yellow — soft, textured, luminous.
The Cachimbo Amarillo brings the feeling of tropical air into a room.
Warm like afternoon light.
Fresh like rain in the forest.
Vibrant without being loud.
Hang this print where brightness is welcome — a living wash of color that feels like holding a piece of Oahu’s sunlight indoors.
